Tree of Life for the Nursery

Throughout the summer I had created a "tree of life" out of fabric for the nursery children of my church to play with. It is finally finished and is now in the nursery room. This tree will be really good as a separation anxiety from their parents, and also good for the person taking roll of who is present in the nursery.

One half the tree says "Junior Nursery" and the other half is the "Senior Nursery". Every kid has a fuzzy "fruit" with their picture and name inside it, with Velcro on the back to put on the tree, including guest children that can have guest boy or girl fruits. I also made some birdies for the kids to put on the tree for fun, and also to fill in all the spaces when there's hardly any kids. The grass is very touchy-feely, with suede and Corduroy and felt. There is a river on one side of the tree, which has two duckies, two fishies, and one happy froggy. . The tree is also blooming with pink flowers of different sizes, and the middle of each flower has a button. There are blue mountains in the background, and the tree itself is sparkly and fuzzy to the touch.

The pictures and names can be taken out of the see through sleeve of the fruits to make room for next year's kids, so it can be used for years to come. I also made enough fruits to fill the entire tree in case we get an influx of kids, and to fill it again for the other ward, so every child going to nursery can have a fruit to put on the tree. The whole quilt is made pillow-case style, with a wooden frame inside it. There is a long strip of Velcro on the back so that if it gets dirty (which it definitely will through the years), it can be easily taken off and sent to the dry cleaner's.
